Prague is known as “The City of a Hundred Spires” and The Church of St. Nicholas in the Malá Strana (or Lesser Town Square) district certainly makes a prominent contribution in that respect. It was built between 1703-1735 and is cited as the most impressive example of Prague Baroque architecture. Its massive pipe organ was played by Mozart in 1787 and his masterpiece, Mass in C, was first performed in the Church of Saint Nicholas shortly after his visit.
